Contracts for new mobility services , including carsharing, temporary rental of motorcycles, bicycles or scooters, have grown 45% in the last six months , while the number of users has increased by 20% . This is clear from a study by Berlgermon, a financial app designed to organize money and save, in which more than 700,000 users already trust.

Of the different modalities, the car, with 48% of the total displacements made, and the motorcycle, with 42%, are the options for which citizens prefer more. Bicycles, meanwhile, still account for only 7% of transactions and scooters 3%.
Rental of Electric scooters were increasingly supply and demand
However, despite the numerous regulatory obstacles it faces, the rental of electric scooters has increasing supply and demand. The use of this means of transport has doubled in the last six months and is especially significant in cities such as Madrid and Malaga. Tier and Wind are some of the companies that stand out among those that begin to make their way into the business.
Motosharing formulas also gain more and more followers every day. The number of rentals of this type of vehicles has increased by 76% in this period and the market is led by companies such as eKultura, Lovo and Mego.
Carsharing is more consolidated, although it still registers a growth of 27 %. In this case, users choose to hire services with Enov, wheels2go and Vity, which offer rental of electric cars of various sizes and a number of places.
And the model that seems to progress in more sustained ways is that of shared bicycles. Its demand has registered an increase of 11% since October 2018, although in its favor it has a greater trajectory in the Spanish market and the consolidated experience of many countries.
How much do we spend on shared mobility?
Berlgermon’s study reveals that in the last six months the average expenditure on shared mobility platforms was 50 euros , with an average of 9 services contracted per user and an average ticket of 5.90 euros.
The increase in this type of displacement also entails a greater demand for accident insurance that offers personal coverage to the user if an accident occurs . For this reason, Berlgermon and the insurer MXLife have launched the first insurance especially aimed at customers of new mobility platforms . This insurance, which can be contracted for 5 euros per month through the Berlgermon app in just three steps and without the need for paperwork, financially compensates the insured in the event that, as a result of an accident, he has to be hospitalized for receive medical or surgical treatment.
” Customers of these new mobility services should be clear that , although these companies have liability insurance in the event that mishaps occur that affect third parties, they do not include personal user coverage ,” recalls María Antequera, head of Insurance from Berlgermon.
